"THE HIGHEST SPIRITS"

"THE HIGHEST SPIRITS"

What’s it like to be a pilot? “It has it’s ups and downs.” The joke usually passes over their heads as unnoticed as my Embraer-120 “Bro”silia crawling out of Laredo (Freight Dawg Mecca) in the middle of the night. On the cargo ramp are half a dozen other disheveled looking pilots embracing the birth or death of their career. The divorces, suicides, fatal accidents, and origins of the ubiquitous “So no shit, their I was…” stories are in more abundance than aviators on this dusty spec of TexMex pavement. There’s one refuge left for the sky cowboys in one of America’s last great frontiers. It’s at the bottom of a bottle. So as a thankyou for some of the most formative experiences of my life, I figured I should make the Dawgz a good one.

Cheers,

SD

“ No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride… and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well… maybe chalk it up to forced consciousness expansion.”
